U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) have issued a press release addressing its commencing the process of electronically automating Form I-94 Arrival/Departure records. The Form I-94 Arrival/Departure Record is the document issued to aliens who are admitted to the U.S. and reflects the date of admission and the period of authorized stay in the U.S.
When the electronic rollout begins on April 30th, CBP will no longer require international non-immigrant visitors to fill out a paper Form I-94 Arrival/Departure Record upon arrival to the U.S. by air or sea, and individuals admitted to the U.S. under this process will no longer receive the paper form upon arrival except in limited circumstances.
The traveler will be provided with a CBP admission stamp on their travel document that shows the date of admission, class of admission and date their authorized stay expires. After electronic rollout begins, if a traveler needs a copy of their I-94 (record of admission) for verification of alien registration, immigration status or employment authorization, it will be obtained by accessing www.cbp.gov/I94.
