Karuna Chandani Simbeck is Partner at Klasko Immigration Law Partners’ Philadelphia office. Karuna focuses her practice on employment and family-based immigration, partnering closely with her clients, both companies and foreign nationals, to provide custom immigration solutions. Karuna manages the firm’s individual case unit and is part of the firm’s EB-1 and EB-5 teams.
Karuna has significant experience with the EB-5 Green Card process, having handled the preparation of hundreds of I-526 Petitions for clients from several countries, including India, South Africa, Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam, Turkey, United Kingdom, and China. Given her considerable experience, Karuna is also called on to review Petitions, Request for Evidence and Notices of Intent to Deny for other law firms.
As part of the EB-1 team, Karuna works with companies and individual clients in the filing petitions for multinational managers and executives, aliens with extraordinary ability, outstanding researchers and those whose immigration would be in the national interest.
Karuna has extensive experience in family-based immigration and represents foreign nationals at all stages of their immigration process, from family-based immigrant visas such as I-130 Petitions for Immediate Relatives and other qualified Family Members, K-1 Fiancé Petitions to adjustment of status interviews, consular processing, and all the way through to attaining U.S. Citizenship.
Before joining the Firm, Karuna was an Associate at a global immigration law firm in New York City, where she gained extensive experience in business immigration for the firm’s largest corporate client, a Management Consulting, Audit, Tax, and Financial Advisory firm. She focused on Permanent Residency and the PERM certification process. She also gained experience in preparing Audit responses and Motions for Reconsiderations, as well as the supervised recruitment process. In addition, she participated in counseling foreign nationals and employers regarding scope of H-1B and L-1B visas and filing requirements. Karuna also prepared foreign national employees for global assignments to member firms and provided insight on repatriation with respect to L-IA visa and potential EB-1 Green Cards processing.
Karuna received her Master’s in Law Degree (LLM) from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA and her Bachelor’s in Law (LLB) from Government Law College, Mumbai, India. Prior to migrating to the U.S., Karuna was a practicing attorney in India, with over 9 years of diverse experience. During this time, Karuna focused on corporate law practice, including litigation. She was also extremely involved in complex real estate matters, including litigation on behalf of both corporate and individual clients. Karuna also participated in contract negotiations for large commercial property transactions with international clients.
